Anxiety, fear and depression can be intensely debilitating and can actively prevent you from dealing well with life’s challenges. Instead, the vicious circle of bad decisions, hopelessness and despair may incline you to withdraw as you feel powerless to change your feelings and circumstances. Or, worse still, make even more bad decisions as you desperately try to get away from feeling so down.
Depression and anxiety are rapidly becoming two of the most common problems that GPs are being asked to treat.
“Depression is more than simply feeling unhappy or fed up for a few days.
We all go through spells of feeling down, but when you’re depressed you feel persistently sad for weeks or months, rather than just a few days.
Some people still think that depression is trivial and not a genuine health condition. They’re wrong. Depression is a real illness with real symptoms, and it’s not a sign of weakness or something you can “snap out of” by “pulling yourself together.
The good news is that with the right treatment and support, most people can make a full recovery.”
Depression no longer carries the stigma it did just a short time ago, and yet the only help on offer through the NHS seems to be a mixture of a series of CBT or counselling sessions and a prescription for SSRIs which is the standard medication on offer.

I have helped many people overcome depression in a deep and abiding way, in a very short time. In fact after just one session of two hours, the feedback I have got is that it feels like magic. What is the difference between an NLP intervention and other therapies?
As NLP is education and not therapy your practitioner will be more interested in how you are doing your depression rather than why. Knowing why can be very interesting but it doesn’t necessarily help you to feel better or do something different.
This sort of treatment works because, as I explained earlier on this site, your chemistry, thinking and feelings are all interacting and affecting each other. So the fact that your chemistry is that of depression means the predisposition is to think in a certain way, and there are unhappy feelings attached to that way of thinking. It isn’t your ‘fault’ – your body is just responding appropriately to what you are unconsciously reinforcing on a daily basis. It could almost be said to be like a bad habit that you know you want to change but don’t know how and need a bit of help.
When you change the way you are thinking, the feelings change and your chemistry responds accordingly. This process starts off as a deliberate taking control of your thoughts, and the way you have been processing your reality, but almost immediately your chemistry resets to match the new way of thinking. And the best news is, that your NLP practitioner will do all the hard work for you to start you on the road to recovery.

Once you have left the session, feeling much happier, then it is over to you to practice being in control and embedding the new habit for good. It only takes a week or two of deliberate, conscious attention – and your practitioner will make sure you are reprogrammed so you can access the new way of thinking and feeling easily – all you will have to do is let yourself reset and begin your journey into a much happier you.
