The 6 Keys to a Confident Voice

Sound More Confident – Speaking Confidently – The Voice of Confidence!

Today I’ve been playing around on Twitter as I’ve only just discovered how the # works! (Embarrassing but true!) So I hunted for #confidence and #voice and although I didn’t search exhaustively I couldn’t see anything much about how to use your voice to sound more confident, if you want to.

There are many times when sounding confident could be useful!

If you have been to any of my talks you may remember a story I often repeat about when I was working with a CEO of a large PLC whose shares would go down each time he presented to the city. If you don’t already know – that isn’t the idea!

Presenting – what makes an inspiring presentation?

Have you ever attended a presentation and felt bored, had difficulty absorbing the information, or worse, had difficulty staying awake?

What makes a presentation really inspiring and engaging and what captures hearts and minds so that everyone who hears it, leaves feeling exactly as the presenter hopes?

Many people spend hours on making fun or informative slides to show. Many people have attended presentation skills courses. But very few people indeed really understand what is at the root of a thoroughly inspiring presentation. Sadly, many people imagine that they just aren’t lucky enough to be a naturally engaging and interesting presenter. The truth is, with a little bit of knowledge and understanding of what really grabs listeners it is possible to upgrade your presenting skill hugely. Hint: it’s not what you say, but the way that you say it!

Is Alan Watts a rubbish public speaker?

Watch this to hear him talk! Life and Music – Alan Watts

I love this guy!

I listen to his talks a lot and they are filled with wisdom and food for thought.

As a public speaker at first I thought he was a nightmare.

He is a hesitant speaker and often seems ‘arhythmic’ in his delivery and he goes off on tangents, and to begin with I couldn’t believe his delivery which at best seemed clunky. And yet….

Being More Confident

I often have clients come to me wanting to be helped to overcome a feeling of low confidence. Wouldn’t it be great to feel like George Clooney or Elle Macpherson! (Picture by permission of The Kobal Collection http://www.kobal-collection.com)

This post has been lifted from the JustBeWell blog – I wrote it a while back and reproduce it here for you And here is the link to the JustBeWell blog where there are lots of other NLP-ers writing about interesting things too!

Send or Post Your Questions

Well, I have had a busy few months. At last, I am ready (I hope!) to start using this space in a way that can be useful to you. What I am going to do is to copy in any emails sent to me (send them to laura@laura-spicer.com and put blog question in the subject line) asking me for online help. I will then post the replies.

This way, I maximise the benefits to everyone and use my time constructively. In most cases, you won’t be the only one suffering with the same problem and so you will be doing others a favour by asking and getting a reply posted.
